To commemorate the occasion, WAFT has organised a special community walk from the Church Street entrance to Westport House. The walk will take place on Sunday, April 6, at midday.

Research shows that nature walks can be extremely beneficial for those with autism in terms of regulating sensory input.

The walk will end at the playground beside Garcy’s Pizzeria and Bistro, where there will be tea and coffee.

On Tuesday, April 8, the Claret Jug, which is the Golf Open Championship trophy, will be at Westport Golf Club. The club have extended an invitation to members of the autistic community to join in the day of celebration.

On the day, there will be opportunities to partake in pitch and putt and a chance to safely explore the pop-up museum.

Lastly, the Mall Bridge will be lit up in solidarity with those with autism for the duration of April, World Autism Month.
